 AlsaPlayer
is a new type of PCM player. It is heavily multi-threaded
and tries to excercise the ALSA library and driver quite
a bit. It has some very interesting features unique
to Linux/Unix players. The goal is to create a fully
pluggable framework for playback of all sorts of media
with the focus on PCM audio data. The core code was
written by Andy Lo-A-Foe with contributions from many
other folks. See the credits files for details.

Its currently based around the 2.4 Linux kernel series
and the GNU C Library version 2.3.1 (libc6). It contains
an easy to use installation program, extensive online
documentation, and a menu-driven package system. A full
installation gives you the X Windows System, C/C++ development
environments, Perl, networking utilities, a mail server,
a news server, a web server, an ftp server, the GNU
Image Manipulation Program, Netscape Communicator, plus
many more programs. Slackware Linux can run on 386 systems
all the way up to the latest x86 machines (but uses
-mcpu=i686 optimization for best performance on i686-class
machines like the P3, P4, and Duron/Athlon). |

AntiVirus Software
 When
an infected or suspicious file is found while working
on the Samba partition, the on access scanner performs
customizable actions, cleaning, blocking or deleting
the file. For problematic files (files on which the
scanning procedure is too long or scanning process crashes),
RAV AntiVirus for Samba can be configured to block/ignore
that file. RAV AntiVirus for Samba is completely configurable
using command lines, and runs as a service, thus being
effective but unobtrusive. |
